The billowing shape makes the Squeeze series from Orrefors look unique from every angle. After the vase is blown, and while still hot, it is “squeezed” together by hand in two places. The dents form a cross inside the vase, which adds to the signature look but also holds the flowers in place. A composed and elegant large vase for use in public spaces or homes. About the Designer:
Lena Bergström is one of Sweden’s most award-winning and productive designers. Utility glass, art glass, lighting, textiles, jewelry and decoration of public spaces, such as the Orrefors Crystal Bar – nothing seems impossible for Lena. With an infectious personality and love of the materials and craftsmanship, she approaches each assignment with the same energy. Lena’s visual vocabulary is like her: soft, hard, feminine, masculine, modern and beautiful – all at the same time. She always bases her work on the properties of the material and constantly tries to find new forms of expression in cooperation with the skilled glassmakers at Orrefors.
Following the journey of glass from a syrupy, molten state to glittering crystal is a spectacular sight that takes place in the Orrefors hot shops every day.
Designers, glassblowers, cutters, painters and engravers play their part in this skilled work every day, and each glass from Orrefors is a unique and sophisticated piece of craftsmanship. By the time the finished glass leaves the glassworks, no fewer than 15 different people have contributed to the production process.
