Cobalt Guild offers an assortment of blue and white porcelain vessels from the antiques markets of Jingdezhen, a town long distinguished by imperial patronage. This vintage piece, available in limited quantity and with minor indications of wear, is a porcelain vase with landscape motifs. 10 1/2" x 24”.
The vase style is reminiscent of Qing "mirror black" wares. Gold-decorated mirror-black ceramics have been popular as mimics for black lacquer decorated with gold. The French Jesuit Father d’Entrecolles wrote to his European sponsors about this glaze when he lived in China in the 1700s!
