Barrier Island Tiles- A Southern Shoreline Inspired Mahjong Set

$299.00
SKU 1004
Carolina Girls love the beach and know a thing or two about the power of the ocean.

These tiles are a love letter to our beloved East Coast, from Florida on up, and a thank you note to the Barrier Islands for bearing the breezes, shouldering the storms, and taking the tides day in and day out. This set came directly from our hearts and memories. It is entirely possible likely even to encounter a real life example of each tile in a single day. Shoutout to Folly, Edisto, Capers, Kiawah, Seabrook, St. Helena, St. Simons, Tybee, Jekyll, Holden, Nags Head, Oak, Key Biscayne, Amelia, Assateague, and all the rest.

There is a single tile in this set that can't be found in nature, a special tribute to childhoods well spent by the salty shoreline.}

These tiles are meticulously engraved and hand painted. Each set includes 160 individual tiles, an information brochure, and a Middle & Main storage bag with balmy yellow embroidery on a peaceful aqua background. Each set includes 6 blank tiles.

The tiles have a soft, natural greenish-blue hue, reminiscent of sea glass smoothed by the tides as if they washed ashore, kissed by the ocean and sun. They feature specially designed durable paint and measure 1.5" x 1" x 0.4".

We recommend exclusively indoor storage only for tiles, bags, and brochures. Final Sale

As you may know, some of the beauty and appeal of Mahjong is the aesthetics of the tiles, not just visually, but their weight, their touch, and the various sounds they make, all of which enhance the experience of playing. When it was time to pick our first set, we had two realizations, that cultural heritage was a well known entity in the beautiful designs of the tiles, but that our cultural heritage was not represented in any existing designs. Our mission is to change that. We’ll start with our home and the places in our hearts and see where we go from there.
